Application: eXpresso
Category: Utilities
Description: While active, eXpresso allows the user to associate files to applications on a portable device such as a USB flash drive or an iPod in disk mode, with a standard double click. No modifications will be made to the host system, all monitoring of file launches, all settings and all dependencies are contained in the eXpresso directory.eXpresso:
Mirror 1 (Bensawsome.com) eXpresso [ 1.72 MB (1,804,764 bytes) download / 3.83 MB (4,018,742 bytes) installed (MD5: 44b972bd836891da48c5fdcf8b6c7aa66)]Somebody remind me to tidy up my release notes
And thank to the passing mod who did it to my first dev test. Take off the mask and who us who you arelol.
NOTE: The INI file was renamed to eXpressoPortable.ini since it conflicts with eXpresso.ini. Although just to clear things up, the app is not called eXpressoPortable.
This is an unsupported release of eXpresso. I take no credit for it since I only modified the name, icon, and some launcher updates. To update from cafe, rename cafe.ini to eXpresso.ini in the "App\CAFE\" folder. Don't worry about the one in the Data\settings folder, just delete that copy.
[EDIT: Forget it!!!I call taking the whole project over until Brian gets back

Known Bugs:
None Ha! No seriously, none officially proven- Initial
Added new Portugese translation to launcher.
Removed 'Preserve App Directory' code in installer as it's too complicated to maintain here. From now on, the app directory will *not* survive a failed upgrade/reinstall. So make a backup before trying:-)
Tweaked $REBOOT code.
Fixed bug in post install code that caused an upgrade to fail.
EDIT: If you're upgrading, delete the "App\Glary Utilities Portable" folder first:-)
Glary Utilities updated to 2.17.0.776. No issues. Well, none that weren't in the last version anyway:-)
I couldn't check the 'registry optimize/reboot' thing as it said my registry didn't need it so I wasn't given the option! Nothing else seems to have changed so I presume that hasn't either. You can report any problems below.
Optimized $SETTINGSDIRECTORY code.
Fixed app name bug in "GlaryUtilitiesPortable.ini".
Minor PAF fixes.
App has been updated to 2.16.0.758. No issues.
The app now survives a reboot and cleans up properly after the registry defragmenter (see notes below).
Extended "CheckRunning" to include all the EXE files the app uses.
It's too easy to leave the Memory Optimizer open in the system tray after shutting down the main app. If you then close the Memory Optimizer, a registry key is left behind (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GlarySoft\Glary Utilities\MemDefrag). The launcher now waits for the Memory Optimizer to close before exiting and cleaning up properly.
Fixes for a couple of files left over in the TEMP directory after checking for updates (thanks horusofoz).- 2.15.0.738 Development Test 4:
If you've rebooted previous versions after using the Registry Defragmenter you may be left with duplicate files/folders which won't be moving correctly. The easiest way to fix this is to backup/delete the files in your settings directory. There's nothing critical being saved and they'll be recreated if missing anyway. If you have no local installation you can also delete the "HKCU\Software\GlarySoft\Glary Utilities" registry key and it's parent "HKCU\Software\GlarySoft" (if left empty).

When running, Glary Utilities Portable will temporarily appear in MSConfig/Startup. This is intentional. Do not remove! You can go ahead and reboot the computer after using the Registry Defragmenter. GUP will run at startup and you can carry on working or close it.
The app overwrites any saved preferences with the defaults at startup.

- Add network (UNC or mapped drive) and any other un-indexed folders to libraries.
- Backup library configuration, such that a saved set of libraries can be instantly restored at any point (like after a re-install of the OS or for transfer between multiple computers).
- Create a mirror of all libraries (using symbolic links) in [SystemDrive]:\libraries. This means you can reference all your files using a much shorter path, and also provides another entry-point to your files in many places in the Operating System (e.g. file open/save dialogs).
Change a library’s icon.

Enable Check Box Selection in Windows 7
The control and shift keys have long been the imprecise means of selecting multiple items on a Windows system. The How-To Geek's blog away from Lifehacker reminds us that, as with Vista, Windows 7 users can use check boxes instead.
As always, the How-To Geek's site has an extensive, step-by-step screenshot guide to flicking on the check box selection tools in Windows 7. For those who know their way around, however, the process is simple: Enter "folder options" in the Start menu's search bar and hit Enter, click the "View" tab on the resulting window, and then check to enable the "Use check boxes to select items" option. Hit Apply and OK, and you'll see check boxes pop up next to the items you're hovering next to with your cursor.
